Heading for the US : On April 20th I shall be heading for Princeton University to attend a symposium called “Boundary Matters” , organized by the Fung Fellowship . It is not focused on Africa but does have African topics . The subtitle of the event is : Interdisciplinary engagements with Ethnic Difference . I’ll try to present something a bit coherent on “The Somali : One world , one culture but how many States ? ” . From Princeton I’ll get down to Washington and try to see which way the wind blows to Africa from there . From the US point of view is the continent trumped , overlooked , freewheeling , disdained or subcontracted to Beijing ? I do not really expect to get a clear picture but I might see a somewhat clearer one than the one I have now (opaque) .
